High-Pivot Suspension, Explained
Why the fastest enduro bikes use it, in plain English.
You will see high-pivot designs on a lot of serious enduro bikes, including the Teewing Flux One. It sounds technical, but the idea is simple, and it genuinely changes how a bike rides on rough ground.
What it is
On most bikes, the main suspension pivot sits fairly low. On a high-pivot bike, that pivot is raised, which changes the path the rear wheel takes as the suspension compresses. Instead of moving straight up, the wheel moves up and rearward.
Why that matters
That rearward wheel path lets the wheel move back and out of the way when it hits a square edge like a rock or a root, rather than getting hung up on it. The result is a bike that keeps its momentum and stays calm through rough, fast, technical sections. It feels like the trail is smoother than it is.
The trade-off
High-pivot designs usually run an idler pulley to keep the chain working cleanly with that wheel path, which adds a little complexity. On a well-built bike the benefit on the descent is well worth it, especially for aggressive enduro riding.
