NSMB Teewing Review

Key points from the review include:

DJI’s Avinox Motor System
DJI, known for drones and cameras, has entered the eMTB market with the Avinox motor system, offering:

  • Peak power of 850W (up to 1000W in Boost mode)
  • Torque of 105Nm (120Nm in Boost)
  • Quiet, smooth, and natural ride feel
  • A touchscreen OLED display with customizable assist modes, remote camera control, and built-in security features like GPS tracking and passcode protection

Teewing’s Entry into eMTBs
Teewing, a brand previously known for high-powered electric scooters, has launched a line of full-power eMTBs using DJI’s Avinox system. Their bikes feature:

  • Full carbon frames
  • 160mm front / 150mm rear suspension
  • 29” wheels
  • Three models (Turbo Force XT, Turbo Force, and Turbo Force Pro) ranging from CAD $8,595 to $13,295

Ride Impressions
Cam McRae tested the Turbo Force Pro during Crankworx in Whistler, BC and found:

  • Excellent geometry and handling, even on steep and technical terrain
  • Smooth power delivery, with high modes offering impressive climbing capability
  • Easy to adjust ride settings with bike interface
  • Quietest full power eMTB I've experienced.

Tech Highlights

  • Fast charging: 75% in 90 minutes with the upgraded charger
  • Wireless controller: Engages Boost and Walk modes
  • Advanced rear wheel sensor: Provides real-time traction data
  • App integration: can customize screens and even control your action camera

Regulatory Considerations
While the bike can exceed legal limits in some regions (e.g., 45 km/h speed), the Canadian distributor, Mike Clyde, confirmed that all models sold in Canada will conform to the 500W continuous power output limit and have a top motor-assisted speed of 32 km/h to comply with local regulations.

Final Thoughts

It might be a strange name, but so far Teewing has made a good impression on his peers and his performance has exceeded this evaluator's expectations.

I look forward to seeing more of what Teewing can do!
